Nature is born of necessity. The Dao is simplicity.
Orange light. As above, so below.
I spend a lot of time on Unsplash looking for beautiful photos. I like to save landscape photos that catch my eye to use for color studies. This is my first study in Procreate. I especially love the color palette: the bright ochre foreground and soft very dark green middle ground with the white peaks of the mountain in the distance.
Zen art observes man as a part of the landscape. The landscapes often imaginary as if emerging from the mist. Man is a part of nature and his work is a meaningful part of the whole.
An imaginary study of color and light. My brother noted the Japanese influence, which had not occurred to me while making it. I was focused on squeezing as much juice out of the color as possible that the subject matter was just a means to an end. Magenta and orange is my favorite color relationship.
Dragon Lines (or Ley Lines) are the ancient ridges and pathways traced by our ancestors. In Sumi-e, the mountain is drawn by its dragon line. Here I followed this principle using soft pastel textures and colors.
Drawn with my left hand. I was thinking of Picasso in his striped shirt and how he draws the eyes first. My first drawing in Procreate.
